Another Coalition program to take advantage of the fact we are most effective when we introduce books and reading at an early age is The Dictionary/Thesaurus Project.

The Coalition introduces each child in the Lumpkin County School System to the world of research, correct spelling and proper pronunciation by giving them a dictionary in the third grade and a thesaurus in the sixth grade.

The age appropriate dictionary becomes for many the very first book they have owned. It is lightweight and very useable, with interesting data on planets, countries of the world, state facts, presidents, the constitution and many other useful and interesting facts.
