The Certified Literate Community Program (CLCP) promotes literacy in Lumpkin County by involving the entire community. By making literacy a community-wide commitment, a broad variety of community resources are mobilized to promote and support literacy training. The CLCP is a business-education-government partnership resulting in improved literacy levels of children, families, and workers in the entire community.

Many members of the community see LCLC as the face of Diane Stephenson, one of the volunteers or board members. The Coalition shares a lot of public faces with the community, including the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library funded in part by the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, Dictionary Project, and Family Literacy Project. Behind the scenes, we touch lives through others working with issues of domestic violence and food and clothing assistance. Low income wage earners lack the ability to function successfully in today’s world. You see people everyday that cannot read or write. They are at the drive thru; they do manual labor; and they help you in the grocery store. Please be a part of the solution and help those who have dropped off the radar with the skills so many of us take as given. Support the Literacy Coalition of Lumpkin County.
